Hi I'm Denise Webb

I was born in Mexico City but I grew up in Utah. I used to teach Spanish but now I am a substitute teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being outside pretty much any time and anywhere. I appreciate art and try to visit art museums wherever I go. I have taught high school Spanish and now I am a substitute teacher because I can be flexible with my time. I have 4 boys and love them each so much. They are so different. I have run my own in-home daycare and pre-school, summer camps for kids and after school Spanish classes. I love being around people of all ages and backgrounds. I have learned so much from people I have met from Queretaro, Mexico to Chile to Memphis, Tennessee. I love to get out and visit new places. I have visited many places in the west, midwest, southwest and midsouth. I have yet to explore the northwest, south and the east coast of the United States. It has been nice to watch our small town grow to be a major influence on the world. We have been able to participate in the unfolding of major community projects. My oldest son currently is serving a mission in Las Vegas, Nevada and is loving it. My second son is involved in debate and band. The two younger boys love soccer, outdoor activities and adventure books. Even though Iove to garden, I haven't had much success. I guess my thumb is only light green.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I have been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life, I can honestly say that I have been converted to the gospel by my own choice. As a young adult, I had many questions not the least of which was why I was a member of the church. I had to look at my religion with objectivity and find answers to my questions just like someone finding it for the first time. I decided to read the Book of Mormon with that in mind and ask God if it was true. One night, during a prayer, I heard a voice inside my mind telling me clearly that it was true. I also felt tremendous peace and tranquility come over me. My conviction that Joseph Smith really saw God the Father and Jesus Christ came a little later but was definitely an unmistakeable witness that his account was also true. So many times since then I have had confirmations and witnesses of the gospel and the Church. I may struggle getting to church on a particular Sunday but I am always glad I went by the end of the meetings. I always come out with a smile. Few moments of the day go by that I don't somehow think on a principle of the gospel or say a prayer in my mind. I am so glad that I have clear direction for my life and know how to find answers. The gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me feel strength, peace and joy I know I could never have found in any other way. I know what brings saddness and heartbreak in life and I have found in the gospel a way to avoid the worst of it and tools to face the challenges I cannot avoid. I have learned so much about living a full and abundant life and about the right path back to God that I cannot deny how true it is. This church and the gospel is for everyone that is looking for truth in their life and a clear understanding of what God expects from us and what He has to offer us. I want everyone to know the joy and security I know as a member of this church.

How I live my faith

It seems like I have always been around young people. I love sharing their exuberance and delight in learning new things and making new connections. At church I am in charge of the children ages 18 months to 12 years on Sundays. I teach them in two large groups and make sure they have teachers for their classes and a music leader. It is wonderful to hear them sing the praises to their Heavenly Father and Jesus. They are so smart! Sometimes they teach me. In our family we make sure and eat together 3 or 4 nights a week. We pray together morning and night and read the Bible together each morning. We try to have family time each week where we coordinate the week's activities, play games, learn lessons and have a treat (the best part). It is really important to me to worship the Lord on Sundays and live his teachings throughout the rest of the week. I have a goal to be more involved with needy people in my area. I know there is more I can do to help.
