Hi I'm Josh

I grew up in Salt Lake City in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love the Gospel and I'm proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up my entire life in the church and do my best to make it the first priority in my life. Keeping this perspective in mind, I have been involved in other organizations as well such as Sigma Chi (a Fraternity) and make sure to not compromise my core values in anything I do. In addition to my social life, I enjoy all types of physical activity and especially like playing basketball, tennis, soccer, weight lifting, and running. When I'm not doing homework, a physical activity, or church duties, I enjoy doing various activities with my friends. Currently, I am a student in college and I am studying business. On May 27th, 2015 I will be reporting to the Missionary Training Center for 3 months to prepare for my mission to Tahiti. Upon returning, I anticipate returning to school and look forward to continuing my education.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah which started me on the path that I am on now. However, I have become more deeply converted as the years have passed, especially in my Junior year of high school. I was going through a challenging time and I couldn't figure out why. Everything that I did was focused on me in the present (grades, social life, etc...), but I didn't have the Gospel. Though my life looked easy on the outside, it was one of the darkest times I have ever had on the inside. I decided my Junior year of high school that I needed to turn completely to the Lord. As I did, I begin to feel light pour into my Spirit. It was ironic though that once I did this, I received many challenges including 2 surgeries and a dislocation. Though my life looked really hard on the outside, on the inside, I felt the life of the Spirit and knew that because I turned my life to God I was in a much better spot than I was before. I have also become more deeply converted as I have seen the effects of the Atonement of Jesus Christ on my life. I fell into dark times and at times felt like my eternal life was over. I couldn't get past forgiving myself and viewed myself as hopeless. I however found joy in Christ and found peace through His Atonement. Because of Him, I was better able to find peace and joy in my life and know now that if we do our best to keep the commandments of God, we can live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I have tried to be faithful and fulfill all of my callings as a member of the church. I have held various callings which include: home teacher, mingle committee member, counselor and secretary in various Quorums, and will have been called to serve as a missionary of the church in Tahiti. As a home teacher, I visited two families in my ward once every month and with my dad (who was my companion) gave a monthly lesson and helped out these families in any way that I could. As a member of the mingle committee, I helped with gatherings in a singles ward. After sacrament meeting, we served food for everyone in the ward so we could socialize together. As a counselor and secretary in a Quorum of the Priesthood, I helped the President with all he needed help with. As a missionary, I hope to spread the joyous message of the Gospel and reach out to make the lives of people better. I love everything that the Gospel brings and want to bring it to the lives of others. In all however, I try my best to make it to every part of church every week and try to make it to every activity that the Church has.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Josh
There are many ways to increase faith in Jesus Christ. The best way that I have found personally is by acting. It says in John 7:17 "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself". If we do our will and do our part to see if a principle or commandment of the Gospel is true, we will answer the question of whether or not it is of God. Just as we can judge men according to the fruits of their labors, we can also judge other things based on their outcome. By experimenting with different principles found within the Church, your faith can increase and you will slowly and surely have a deeper and stronger conviction that Jesus is the Christ.
