Hi I'm Dominic Ross

I grew up in the great state of Texas. I'm a Mama's boy. I live to sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I originally came from a broken home. My parents went through a divorce when I was about the age of six. Life with just my Mom and me was good but it was no walk in the park. Luckily we had a support group of extended family that was there to help and love us through the trying times following my parents divorce. Eventually my mother remarried and I was blessed to have a new Dad that loved and cared for me as my old one had. I kept a good relationship with my biological father though and now am blessed to have the benefit of having all of them love me. I currently have been studying to be a Vocal Performance Major at BYU-Idaho and wish to pursue a professional career in the world of opera. My hobbies obviously include singing and performing, however I also grew up playing Texas high school football and enjoyed being a member of my schools Nationally ranked show choir! I love being a college student and I love the life that I have been blessed to live.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the restored gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy. Through it I have felt time and time again my saviors love for me and have felt the arms of God wrap me up in an embrace of comfort. Through the gospel I have gained a testimony that families are eternal and can be sealed together for time and all eternity. My family is what truly brings me joy. They are my friends, my confidants, my strength, and without them this world and the life hereafter would not be worth it. I know my potential and know Gods plan for me because I am a Mormon. I know that I don't have to be perfect and that the Jesus Christ has bought my salvation and that all I have to do is take the outstretched arm of mercy he offers me and repent to stand clean in the father's presence at the last day of judgement. I'm a Mormon because I believe in modern day revelation and that God still speaks and directs his people through a prophet today. It amazes me that God loves us so much he still directs us as he did the children of Israel in the Bible. I'm a Mormon simply because my Life is filled with joy when I live the gospel. I have had the opportunity to live life apart from the gospel and see the difference of growing up as a Mormon and not. I choose to be a Mormon and I am richly blessed because of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first and foremost by being an example of the savior, Jesus Christ. I try and live my life in such a way that people recognize Christ's countenance in my words and actions. One thing in particular that my whole extended family does with me is called the goodness program. My Grandfather started this program in order to keep are family values with those of our faith. The slogan to the goodness program is "We believe in being Good". Every couple of months the whole family has to report to grandpa how they've promoted a love of God, a love a self, and a love of fellow men. From being held accountable to this standard from a very young age, I have personally put hours of community service into my surrounding area and church and have strove to be a friend to the friendless, a shoulder to cry on, and a witness of God's love for his children. I have also witnessed my faith through the song of the heart. As a performer I have been blessed to have the spirit witness to me, and have had the opportunity to witness to others that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and that his love and mercy for us knows no bounds. With the BYU-Idaho Collegiate Singers I have been able to testify of that message through song on various concerts and tours that we have participated in. Music truly is a powerful tool in testifying of truth and I have felt of it's power.
