Hi I'm Miranda

I grew up in Oregon, and am currently attending a church college. I love reading, writing, and video games, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Miranda, and I'm currently attending college. I'm an English major with a minor in creative writing, and I hope to someday work with editors and authors in young adult publishing. As you've probably guessed, I love reading, and I want to bring more amazing, beautiful, and uplifting books in this world for future generations to read. I grew up in the Church, but I've found my own testimony and seen my own miracles--I know God is out there, and He loves us unconditionally.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church, but I had to find my own testimony. I feel so much love and comfort from the fact that I know I can rely on my Savior to pull me through the darkness. The Lord never gives up on us, and He never forsakes us--sometimes we have to wait for answers to our prayers to come in His way, but He DOES answer us. I'm a member of this church because I believe in a patient, loving Father in Heaven who sees all HIs children as equal and beautiful. I believe in a Savior who came to this earth and was willing to die for us so we could live with Him and our Father again someday. We can never stray so far that we can't be brought back by his all-powerful and never-failing light. I know I don't need to be perfect in order to still try my best. I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who restored the true church of Chirst to this earth, with all the necessary priesthood powers and covenants necessary for us to return to Him when we pass on. And I will always take comfort in the fact that, even in the darkest, loneliest of times, there is always someone there who loves us more than we could possibly comprehend. And when a loved one passes one, I take great comfort in the fact that they are safe in thier Father's arms, and I will see them again someday. I love this gospel, and I want everyone possible to have the opportunity to know what I know, and feel the love, comfort, and strength of this gospel that I do. I am a better person because of it, and my life is full of light that would not otherwise be possible without it.

How I live my faith

I love going to church and sometimes leading the music in my classes or meetings. At home, I taught some of the children of the ward, ages seven to eight, and it was a great learning experience for me. I don't have a calling in my current ward, but I'll be moving into a new one in the fall, where I hope to be an active participant!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Miranda
The answer is a resounding YES! People in ancient times needed prophets to guide them. The modern world is arguably even more difficult to navigate, understand, and it's out of our control. There's so much technology available to us, and so many different voices shouting at us, that it can be easy to get lost. We need a living prophet, chosen by God, today, just like the ancient people needed then! Through the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, God is able to speak to us and lead us to happier, more peaceful lives, and His words through his apostles can comfort and guide us, just as the scriptures do. He sends prophets because He loves us and wants us to find our way back to Him at the end of this mortal life. Show more Show less
