Hi I'm Lyn

I am a great-grandmother from New Zealand. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning about my family history and helping others learn about theirs. I met my biological mother after I had six children and learned a little of my ancestry. This gives me an excuse to travel and visit relations around the world. My favourite exercise is walking. Particularly hiking in the New Zealand countryside.

Why I am a Mormon

I started attending the LDS church as a teenager more than 50 years ago. It just felt right to me and after a few months I realized there was nothing I would like to do more than attend church every Sunday. So I was baptized and have attended church every possible Sunday since. The only thing that has kept me away has been the ill health of myself or a family member. A couple of years later I met my husband and we were married for time and all eternity. That gives me great comfort as my husband died in a car accident 13 years ago. As much as it was the saddest time of my life I also felt great peace and the love of my Heavenly Father. As I follow my Saviours teachings I know I will be reunited with my husband when I leave this world.

How I live my faith

Each month my friend and I visit six local ladies. We give them a spiritual message and see if there is any way we can help them. They range in age from 23 to 75 and are Samoan, Maori and New Zealander. It is very rewarding knowing people of different cultural backgrounds. I have been serving with the local branch of the NZ Genealogical society. We help people with their family history, transcribe the local cemetery memorials and provide local information. I also give "how to" family history talks.
