Hi I'm Shelby Smith

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I went to Utah State University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After I graduated from high school, I started school working towards a business degree. I finished my freshman year and decided to go on a mission. I love being outside, whether I'm hiking, skiing, boating, or just playing sports. In high school I played lacrosse and ran cross country. I play the piano and although I don't sing formally, I have been known to burst into song on occasion. Math and English are my favorite subjects. Yes, I am a nerd.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the Book of Mormon and everything that it teaches. When I read the Book of Mormon, I am always motivated to be better, or to be more like Jesus Christ. I feel closer to my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ when I read this book. It is another witness of Jesus Christ, and it supports and adds understanding to the Bible. This church keeps me on a good path. It gives me hope in times when it seems like all hope is lost, and it helps me understand where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going. This gospel has helped me to understand that I am a daughter of a loving God, and that I can live with him again someday. I feel so blessed to have grown up in this gospel, and I want to share it with everyone who will listen.

How I live my faith

I have previously served in the presidencies of Young Women's classes, where girls ages 12-17 meet. I have also organized activities for young adults. I am currently serving a mission for the church.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Shelby Smith
Absolutely. God helped the people of ancient times through trials and gave them important direction in their lives through a prophet. We still need that direction today, so God continues to give us prophets. He is always merciful, and it is because of this that He sends prophets to guide us today. Through listening to the prophet, I often hear things that help me become more like Christ. Show more Show less
