Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in California. I'm a total goof and love food with all of my heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently returned from serving a two year mission in Northern Italy and it was the most amazing experience of my life. I am the youngest of four children and all of my siblings are happily married. Fortunately I have an adorable niece and nephew and so I'm not entirely alone when we go on family vacations. I am attending BYU in Provo studying electrical engineering and for now one day hoping to study biomedical engineering in the future. I love sports, especially volleyball, the beach, wakeboarding, reading and playing the piano and I couldn't be happier about life and the bright future ahead.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the teachings of this church have brought me the greatest joy. They have allowed me to become close to my Savior, Jesus Christ and to build a relationship with Him that has helped me in every aspect of my life. I know that I can live with my family forever and that I am truly a son of the living God who loves me and knows me personally. These simple truths have helped me find comfort and peace, even joy in the most difficult of times. I know the church is the true church of Jesus Christ here on the earth. He leads it and I am so happy to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by everyday doing things that will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father, whether that be praying, reading the scriptures, going to church or any other number of things. I strive to constantly seek His guidance and listen to what He wants me to do so that I can then turn around and help others to feel the same love and peace from our Heavenly Father that I feel.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Matt
Not all Mormons are required to serve missions. The thing is, although it is not a requirement, we believe that our Heavenly Father has called the young men of the church and whoever else who has the desire to do it to go on a mission. I like to relate it to SCUBA diving or to snorkeling since I know that a lot of people have not been SCUBA diving. Anyways, when you are snorkeling and you see something beautiful, like an eagle ray or a turtle, you immediately try to get the attention of those that you are with and show them what you saw. It is always amazing to see something really cool, but it is so much better when you share that experience with someone else that you care about. Well, this is how we see missionary service. At least for me, this church is the graceful, beautiful eagle ray and I want to show it as many people as I can. Missions are an opportunity to do what the Lord has asked us to do and share His message with the world. Show more Show less
