Hi I'm Niels Snow

I lived in Russia as an expat for 8 years of my life and am also into photography and cinematography. Best of all...I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up traveling a lot, as my dad is a petroleum engineer. The first place I settled down was in Moscow, Russia where, along with my mother, we lived as expats. I am the youngest of five kids. A large gap in age separates my siblings and me, yet for some reason I have never felt distant from them. In a way, they have all acted as role models for me as I have seen them grow up and have families of their own. I LOVE playing sports. I have been a three-sport athlete every year of high school. These sports have included soccer, basketball, XC, track, and men's volleyball. This past year I had the fortunate opportunity to be a part of the second place XC team at state in the class 4A division. In addition, I enjoy greatly skipping school to ski on the local slopes in Colorado (don't tell my parents). Some activities that I also enjoy participating in on the side are photography and cinematography. I am a paid Youtuber and produce videos frequently. I also enjoy taking hikes and photography landscapes and people. I have chosen to serve a mission over the next two years of my life because of my deep and everlasting love for the church. I will serve in Kiev, Ukraine speaking Russian.

Why I am a Mormon

I will tell that I was born into this church. Both of my parents are members and at first, it was not my choice to go to church each Sunday. However, as I got older, I began to understand the importance of this church. I will be first to tell you that I have used my agency poorly many times. Nevertheless, as I have exercised faith, Heavenly Father has blessed me. I can never be more grateful for the great change that Heavenly father has brought upon me as I have lived the teachings of the church. The church is my rock that I can always rely on. It keeps protects me against the various temptations that are out there. A common misconception that people have about our church is that it ties us down and takes away all the fun in life. I will tell you that the church has brought a vast amount of happiness into my life. The church has given me a long term and eternal perspective into life that I would not have been able to gain otherwise. It has helped me through the good and the bad. I honestly have no idea where I would be without this church, it has created the person I am today. For that, I am eternally grateful.

How I live my faith

To start I will tell you that my trials are not nearly as hard as many. I live an easy life. I believe that one of the most significant trials that I have had (and many Mormons too) is being a minority in my school. Living in Russia, I was the only Mormon boy in my entire high school. Therefore, I have found it hard at times to stand-alone. The most effective way I have discovered to live my faith, is through example. I try my very best to shape my example to others as Christ is to me. My goal for life is to have people love me, because I love Christ. Christ was loving, humble, and kind. Most importantly, he never focused on himself, but instead those around him. After all, he gave up all so that we may overcome sin and spiritual death. I try to exemplify Christ through my daily actions. Unfortunately, I am not perfect as he was and neither is anyone else on this earth. Therefore, I believe that it is important to find our weaknesses and flaws so that we can make them strong. What I have found to be one of the most effective tools for living my faith is consistency. To build my testimony, I have made sure I have daily scripture study and prayer. Daily scripture study is such a blessing in my life. One of the real corner stones of my faith in this church is the Book of Mormon. I have recently started study more in depth verse by verse the Book of Mormon and it holds so much truth in it. Each verse has a purpose that can strengthen me and carry me throughout the day. I will not single out the Book of Mormon as the Bible also contains essential fundamental truths. Most importantly, there is a special spirit that dwells in both of these books that gives me confidence that my actions are in alignment with what God wants for me. I am also able to know this through pray, where I am able to directly speak to my Heavenly Father. The most important thing to know about prayer, is that it is a two sided conversation, and I will bear witness that I have seen this in my life.
