Hi I'm Les

I am married and am a father of a large family. Currently, I am a chemistry professor in the United States. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and have 10 children. My family is the joy of my life and gives me purpose. I grew up in a small town in Nevada, USA. After graduating from high school, I attended college for about 9 years, eventually earning Ph.D. In chemistry. After working as a chemist for the government and industry for a few years, I decided to to teach at a 4-year university. This has become my dream job. I love the process of being able to assist individuals in understanding chemistry. I have been teaching for about 15 years and plan to continue in this profession until I retire. I am married to a fantastic woman whom I love very much. Some of my main interests presently include attending various activities in which my children are involved. Beyond my employment, this takes a good chunk of my time. When I have the time, I also enjoy getting outdoors (hiking and camping). I also have an ecclesiastical assignment in which I assist in the spiritual and temporal development of individuals that live close to me. I assist them in coming into Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know through a spiritual witness that the teachings found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ are true. This teachings are found in His restored church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Truly living this gospel, brings me personal peace and joy. I know that this peace and joy can continue into the eternities. I find joy in helping my family and others live this His gospel. Many time, especially, in a current era we become distracted from those things which truly bring us happiness. The path of happiness in the life is Our Heavenly Father's Plan for his children. I know that this plan has been revealed in modern time through his chosen prophets. The central part of this plan is the sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ. Because of his suffering, death, and being raised again, we can receive all the blessings of Our Heavenly Father. I know that this is true even though living according to His will may be difficult at times.

How I live my faith

I first strive to live my faith in the home. There must come a warning with this; I am far from perfect. Daily family prayer and scripture study along with a weekly evening together have top priority in my home. Performing these basic activities helps turn all in the home to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We sincerely strive to incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ into our lives (again, we are far from perfect). Currently, I am currently the ecclesiastical leader of a congregation of about 400 members. This assignment is called bishop. In this assignment, I assist members in their spiritual and temporal growth. We all strive to become true disciples of Jesus Christ. I have blessing of being able to work directly with the youth of this congregation. They are fantastic! Watching their actions gives me hope for the future. Even though there are many difficulties in the world, many youth sincerely strive to follow Jesus Christ and emulate his example. Personally, I realize that I must building upon the foundation that Jesus Christ provides. He is the only way that we can return to our Father. We can become purified and holy through Him, Jesus Christ.
