Hi I'm Rachel McDonald

I grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I love water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, and all things outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my first year at BYU. After completing my first year of college at BYU, I will be serving a full-time mission in the Bolivia Santa Cruz Mission. I have grown up doing lots of outdoor activities. I love to ski, bike, hike, swim, kayak, canyoneer, camp, and pretty much anything that involves being outside. I also love to sing and play piano, guitar, and ukulele. I am the second oldest of 4 kids. I have grown up in Pleasant Grove, Utah my whole life. As a family, we also go to Three Lakes, WI every summer. It is my second home and I love going water skiing and swimming every day. I love playing with little kids and being with family and friends. I played soccer in high school and I ran track in elementary and junior high. I sang in the choir in high school. I love science and math. I hope to go to Medical School after completing my degree at BYU. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I love temples. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made me who I am today and has shaped my life for good.

Why I am a Mormon

It is true that I am a Mormon because I was raised in a home where the Gospel of Jesus Christ was taught. However, this isn't the only reason I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have found out, for myself, that this gospel is true. I have been able to see the example of my parents, siblings, leaders, teachers, and friends and then take their testimonies to strengthen my own. I have been able to read the Book of Mormon and gain strength, comfort, and answers from it. As I learn more about the gospel each day, and strive to live the way my Heavenly Father wants me to live, I have felt the Spirit of the Holy Ghost to know that this is the true church on the earth today. Although I am not perfect, and I have weakness and make mistakes, I have found that as I live the gospel the best I can, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ strengthen me and give me true Joy. Things in life aren't always easy because I am a member of the Church, but the church has given me the greatest source of joy and strength to move forward through trials. The gospel has given me a source of knowledge to know of the incredible things that I have to look forward to. To know that I can be with my family for time and for all eternity. I know that this church is true. I know that the prophets and apostles are on the earth today to lead us and guide us through revelation. I know that they speak for Heavenly Father and that he can teach us through them. I know that no matter what, no matter where I am in life, Jesus Christ can strengthen me and lift me up. He will always be there for me, when I'm feeling down or alone. He will help me overcome my weaknesses, because He has suffered all things. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know me perfectly and that they know what I am going through and how to help me. I know that they know each one of their children and that they love them immensely, because I have felt their love for me. I testify of these things, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith my trying my best to shine the Light of Christ each day and have His imagine in my countenance. In my ward at BYU, I was able to be a teacher in the Relief Society, or women's organization. Although sometimes I felt inadequate and didn't know how I could teach the sisters in my ward, the Lord helped and strengthened me and told me through the Spirit what they needed to hear. I have now been called to serve a mission in Bolivia. I am so excited that I will be able to go out and touch the lives of the people there and be able to be strengthened myself. I will strive to show each person I meet there the love that our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for them. And to share with them the joy that the gospel has brought to my life.
