Hi I'm Yukiko

I'm half German & half Japanese; I love photography, western swing, & being outside. I'm crazy about good chocolate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a person who loves photography, but is still exploring all areas of life such as dance, science, writing, etc. I also enjoy cooking and baking, Ultimate frisbee, and doing spontaneous activities with good friends. I'm currently preparing to serve a mission in Japan. I'm not comfortable with drastic change, but I find that I do enjoy it after the fact. I just have to let myself lean into it because there is no growth in staying in the comfort zone. That is something that I'm still learning and practicing: getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things, going to new places, and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the gospel and at the age of eight I chose to be baptized as an official member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a member is always a choice even after being baptized and confirmed. Every day it's a choice to live the gospel and standards, to be an example of what we believe and know to be true. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy; and I am happy because I know that this church is true and the gospel it teaches and lives is true. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and that He died for us so that we can live with Him and our Father in Heaven once more. I know that Joseph Smith was called to restore this true church and gospel back to earth. I know that he also translated The Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know that Joseph Smith really was a prophet called of God and that we have true and living prophets today. I know that Heavenly Father not only speaks to our prophets, but also to us individually. We can pray to Him and He will answer our prayers and comfort us because He loves us, for we are His children. I know it. I live it. I love it.

How I live my faith

I've had a few callings growing up in the church such as president, counselor, and secretary in several young women's group presidencies. I was also on Seminary Council during my senior year in high school. And most recently, I was on the Home Evening planning committee for my Young Single Adults ward which I enjoyed very much. Though I haven't had many official callings, I continually try to live the standards and commandments of the church and Christ. I have also just received my mission call to serve in the Japan Kobe Mission, which I am nervous yet very excited for.
