Hi I'm Julia

I grew up in Utah. I'm a college student. I love reading and doing things with my family. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 kids ranging from age 15 to 19. My family does almost everything together. I just finished my first year of college. It was hard but I loved it. I am studying to become a Biomedical Engineer. I want to use my degree to create medical devices that can make other people's lives better. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and that is fueling my passion for medical technology. I play the violin and think it is one of the best instruments ever! I love to read and sometimes stay up really late because I can't put my book down and want to read one more chapter which often turns into five or ten and before I know it, I've finished the book. I was just called to serve a mission to St. Louis Missouri and can't wait to serve the people there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My parents and grandparents are all members and have been for all their lives. Growing up, I have come to know for myself that this church is true by reading The Book of Mormon and praying to know if it is true. I think that the biggest test of my faith was when I was 13 and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Because of this disease, I have to manage my blood sugar levels through insulin injections and counting the carbs I eat so that I know how much insulin to administer. After my diagnosis I had to make a decision. Either I could be really depressed and angry about this upset in my life, or I could turn to God and rely on Him to help me to cope with this disease. I chose to turn to God and am so grateful that I did. I've spent a lot of time on my knees talking to God and asking for him to give me courage and comfort when I needed I most. I know God is truly our loving Father in Heaven. I have felt His love for myself.

How I live my faith

For the past year and a half, I've been a primary teacher in the church. This means that I get to teach children the basic doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a lot of fun and am always amazed at the knowledge that these little children have of their Savior, Jesus Christ, and their love for Him. I read the scriptures daily and strive to always live the teachings I find in them.
