Hi I'm Diane

I was born and raised in Utah and have enjoyed all of the advantages of this great state. I love being a retired teacher.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, went on a mission, went to college, began teaching, and married the love of my life. But at age 41, I became a widow after supporting my husband through an 11 year battle with Leukemia. We were unable to have children, but I continued to teach elementary school until I retired. I felt great satisfaction from helping so many children over the years. I enjoy doing many things from playing tennis to going to the symphony or the ballet. My favorite guilty pleasure is reading a good book and relaxing until I fall asleep. I enjoy being outside hiking or riding my bike. My greatest joy is spending time with family and friends. I love to hear children laughing. I have a simple life, but find great joy in living.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church my entire life and find it difficult to determine the specific time that I was converted. It has been happening throughout my life. I can identify one particular moment when I found myself wanting to be more focused in living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was walking down the street one day in college and it simply occurred to me that I wanted my life to be centered around Jesus Christ. I knew that I was committed to being active in the Church for the rest of my life. I have been blessed for exercising my faith to participate in the ordinances of the Gospel. I feel the strength that comes from the covenants I have made with my Heavenly Father. As I continue to follow the example of the Savior and live according to His commandments, I am blessed with peace and comfort from the Spirit. This wonderful gift provides direction, protection, and comfort. My life has been full of happiness and joy. But I have also experienced pain and disappointments. I know that I have witnessed miracles and seen tender mercies that let me know Heavenly Father is mindful of me.

How I live my faith

Now that I am retired from teaching I enjoy choosing how to spend my time. I have decided to serve a full-time mission. I will be working in the mission office. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the people and missionaries in a new part of the world. Before my mission, I have spent most of my time serving as a teacher. I loved teaching children in school and adults at church. I have also been privileged to serve in leadership positions in the Women's organization of our Church. This has given me a chance to strengthen the women in my area with spiritual, emotional, and social support. I also enjoy working together with others to plan social events at church as well as in the community.
