Hi I'm Laura

I'm a college student, an aunt to fourteen, a lover of imagination, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm nineteen years old, the youngest of five kids, and an aunt to fourteen. I finished my freshman year of college and am called to serve a mission in Urdaneta, Philippines. I'm an English major with a deep love for Spanish, hobbits, and nineteenth century England. Someday, I hope to be a wife and a mom. Originality, authenticity, kindness, and love are important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. My parents raised me in the Church, so I never really doubted that this was the truth. However, I still came to know that the gospel is true for myself. The way I have experienced the happiness the gospel provides is by feeling the Holy Ghost in my life. The Holy Ghost gives people feelings that confirm truths. That feeling is what I get by living the gospel, and that is what makes me happy. It makes me feel good, and it tells me that what I live is true. I have felt the Holy Ghost when I have experienced God and Jesus Christ's love for me, as well as in other personal life events. I remember these experiences fondly and they help keep me faithful. I can also feel the Holy Ghost when looking back on my life and seeing how God has blessed it. The best thing about the gospel is that we have a glorious future to look forward to because Jesus Christ is our Savior. As long as I repent and keep the commandments, He will make up for the rest. And that's incredible because I'm so imperfect! He is there for me and for everyone else. Using the Atonement of Christ in your life will give you the greatest happiness. Why does all of this matter? Why does it make me so happy? Because once my life on Earth is over, I can be with my family, my future husband and children, God, and Christ for ALL ETERNITY! That is the happiest thing ever.

How I live my faith

I have served in class presidencies in the Young Women program organizing activities and doing other leadership activities. I was also on an activities committee in college. I served as a visiting teacher, going with a companion to visit other women, see how they were doing, and share a spiritual message. I also live my faith by attending the temple. I didn't go consistently or often when I was younger, but since being in college, I have made it much more of a habit. It has been a blessing in my life. When I attend them temple, I feel peace. I feel like I am clean. I feel like Heavenly Father is thinking about me and that He loves me. And of course, there's my eighteen-month mission. I decided to serve a mission because I felt like I needed to do something about my blessings. My life is easy compared to most, and I have the opportunities of a good education, a good home, loving parents, and a happy family. What better way to bless others than by sharing what will help them the most? The gospel is important--it's the thing that will make people most happy. This will be hard, and it's been hard already as I try to prepare. It's time consuming and draining. But it's worth it. It will make me more of the person God wants me to be.
