Hi I'm Evin

I love dark chocolate, Christmas, and romance novels. I'm just a little girl with big dreams. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a psychology student at Utah State University and I hope to become a high school counselor one day. I participated in ballet and debate in high school and enjoyed them both immensely. I performed in shows including the Nutcracker, Coppellia, Firebird, Sleeping Beauty, and others. I was the oratory and congress captain in debate, and in competition I placed in state tournaments and had the opportunity to attend a national competition. I also taught piano lessons during high school to earn some extra money and loved working with kids through that experience. I enjoy jogging, hiking, watching movies (especially chick flicks, bring on the cheese), reading, and baking. I am the middle child of five, I have a brother and sister-in-law, and I am going to be an aunt soon! I love my family and I especially love to travel with them. I am currently working as a CNA at a nursing home and I absolutely love my job! I have grown to love the people I work with and I learn from them everyday I work. There's nothing better than serving people you count as dear friends for an occupation. I have fulfilled dreams through performing humanitarian service in a third world country during high school, and hope to continue that service as I finish obtaining my degree in college. I also have lots of big goals for my career and future. I have been called to serve as a missionary in the Washington Spokane mission and I cannot wait to serve! I love the Lord and I love this gospel!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My mother's family joined when she was two years old, and my father's ancestors became members during the time of Joseph Smith. Both my parents served missions, my dad in Guatemala, and my mom in Columbia. They are faithful members of the church with strong testimonies and a strong desire to raise a righteous posterity. As they taught me the gospel, I began to study the scriptures and pray on my own. As the years have passed, and especially since I became a teenager, I have studied and prayed and gained a testimony for myself. I know that this gospel is true and nothing can shake that knowledge, it is sure and firm. The gospel brings me more joy than anything else in this life, I know that living it is right, and I cannot imagine life without it.

How I live my faith

I am currently a ward missionary and the institute specialist in my ward. I love going on visits with the ward missionaries and planning activities and announcements to help increase institute enrollment. I attend institute, both on USU campus and stake institute classes. Institute is by far one of the greatest blessings I have been given, I always walk away feeling uplifted after an institute class. I also participate as a member of LDSSA and I love it! We have so much fun helping plan things and hold activities for the institute! The temple is another tremendous blessing in my life. I attend every week and I love the feeling of peace I receive each time I go. I am so blessed to live just ten minutes from a temple and I don't know how I would live without it! I love to read my scriptures each night, especially the Book of Mormon. The strength and power of that book are insurmountable. Each time I read, I feel the spirit, my testimony is strengthened, and I feel closer to my Father in Heaven, and Savior, Jesus Christ. I also am so grateful for the blessing of prayer and the opportunity I have to speak with my Heavenly Father anytime I feel like it. I have grown so close to him and come to know my worth as his daughter and I know he always hears and answers me. I try to live the principles of the gospel in all that I do by striving to be Christ-like in all my actions. Showing kindness and love is especially important to me and I endeavor to always do so. I love to serve others and I am especially excited to serve as a missionary in the Washington Spokane area for 18 months! I love the Lord, I know he lives, and I cannot wait to share his gospel and the joy that it brings with the people I will serve on my mission.
