Hi I'm Janice

I am a wife, mother of 7, and grandmother of 25. I am an R.N. who enjoys gardening, great music and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, My name is Janice and I am a retired Nurse and I am a Mormon. I love nursing and it has helped me become who I am. I am from Kentucky, then New Jersey, and I met my husband at Brigham Young University. I joined the Mormon church when I was 14 years old along with my parents and sister. I am now the mother of 7 children and grandmother to 25 grandchildren and my family brings me my greatest joy. I believe that families can be together forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that it is God's true gospel upon the earth today and was restored through a prophet namely, Joseph Smith, and like prophets of old he was not perfect and was quite young when God The Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to him. He nonetheless, stayed true to his commission to help bring forth a book of translated ancient records and scripture which is another witness of Jesus Christ. I was also quite young ,age 14 like Joseph, when I was first introduced to this church and even though I was happy being a member of the protestant church that I attended, I still had some questions that bothered me. The trinity was one of those ideas that just did not make sense to me. Well, the missionaries taught me about the first vision and I knew that it had to be the truth. I was nervous about reading The Book of Mormon because my minister told me that I would go to hell if I did, but when I did read it I felt the same feelings as when I read the Bible. The same God spoke to me from the pages and these stories were about people just like me trying to live their lives the best they could and wanting to be happy. I know that we need prophets today to guide us just as in the Bible days and the Book of Mormon. I prayed and got my answer and have never looked back. The truths that I was taught by the missionaries have given meaning in my life. I know that following God's prophet is able to bring happiness to us here on this earth as Heavenly Father communicates through his prophet he can help his children live in a way that they can return to him some day in heaven. I find such joy in living righteous principles as I have reared my family and serve each day. This gives me peace and happiness beyond earthly understanding. This is truth-divine truth.

How I live my faith

I believe that my faith in God should be apparent in my life. When I was working as a nurse, I would frequently pray for my patients that I might know how best to care for them and sometimes I believe Father in Heaven would send angels to be close by to help them so they would not feel alone when I left their side. I have tried my best each day to live what I believe by praying, reading my scriptures, and doing all that I can to teach my children to live as Christ taught us to live. I play the piano and organ for church meetings and especially love the children's songs and hymns. As I play I feel my Heavenly Father close by and know that he is real and loves me very much. I have also led the choir and helped with music in our church most of my life. It is wonderful to share my love for my Savior by serving others. I have taught classes about The Savior to our youth and my husband and I also teach classes on Marriage, Family and Parenting based on Gospel Principles. I feel this helps us to contribute to the sanctity of the families in our community. I feel that saving families is our true hope for the future.
