Hi I'm Emily

I'm from Utah. I attend school at Brigham Young University and study nursing there. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm nineteen years old. I have been attending Brigham Young University for the past two years and just started the nursing program this last semester. I love helping people! I used to volunteer at Primary Children's Hospital playing the harp for the patients, family, doctors and nurses there. I also volunteered in the play room doing crafts and all manner of activities with the kids. I fell in love with being there and the fulfillment I got out of serving the patients and their family members. I knew that the hospital was where I wanted to spend my time in my future career. I am now taking a break in my career path to serve an 18 month mission in Columbus Ohio. I know that this is what Heavenly Father desires me to do at this time and it will be another great opportunity for me to be able to serve people in a different capacity!

Why I am a Mormon

My knowledge of the truthfulness of the gospel means everything to me! It is what motivates me to keep going when difficulties arise, it brings me great hope for the future, and it helps me to keep progressing when things are smooth-sailing. The gospel is what has been my anchor during really rough situations and has pulled me out of circumstances that I would not be able to on my own. I know without a doubt that the Heavenly Father knows me and loves me as well as each one of His children. I know that we are all His children! His son, Jesus, Christ, atoned for our sins, pains, and afflictions so that we can be comforted in time of need, we can overcome sin, and return to live with our Heavenly Father and become like Him. I know that our Father in Heaven provided us with this gospel as a way that we could progress and experience all kinds of situations so that we can learn to trust in Him we can be made perfect like He is. The gospel brings great joy and happiness to my life and I know it will bless the lives of all those who sincerely come unto Christ and strive to do the things which He has taught us to do. I love this gospel and am so grateful for the happiness and peace it has brought to my life!

How I live my faith

I participate actively in my ward by attending activities and fulfilling my calling. Before the semester ended at BYU, I was a sunday school teacher in my young single's adult ward there. This calling was a great opportunity to really dive into the principles of the gospel and be able to understand them on a deeper level. Most of the time I felt that I was not the one teaching the class, but in fact those attending the class taught me and even more importantly the spirit taught me the things I needed to know and share with the class. I also made the effort to do my visiting teaching every month with my companion. This is a really great program the church has put together so that we can reach out to ward members- specifically sisters- and get to know the sisters we are assigned to on a deeper level. The spirit of visiting teaching is not to just simply visit those you are assigned to and check it off the list, but rather to really reach out and help these sisters and offer love.
