Hi I'm Devin Winstanley

I was born in Colorado and loved the outdoors and was able and blessed to attend a school in Hawaii for this last year.

About Me

Everyone has a few big decisions in their lifetime that heavily effect their future, I was faced with one at age 17 when I had to make the decision to go to a college for basketball or go to a college with people who share my beliefs. I believe the hardest decisions in life are deciding between two good choices. Both schools sounded right for me, so I weighed the pros and cons and felt perfectly split to which college I should attend. I felt prompted to kneel down and pray. I grew up with prayer in my household and to me it was something you just did in the morning and at night, this was the first time I felt I was really talking to God from my heart. I was overcome with this feeling that I needed to serve a mission and if I continued to play basketball I would not have been able to serve when the time came. I made my decision and went to school at Brigham Young University Hawaii. In Hawaii I really developed my own testimony of the Gospel and that Jesus Christ is our savior. I was surrounded by friends who had similar beliefs and similar morals that allowed me to stay worthy, gain that testimony and now after two semester I am proud and blessed to say i will be serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints In Philadelphia.

Why I am a Mormon

This life is filled with so much joy and happiness, but without God in our lives something is missing. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth today and that is because of the Latter day Prophet Joseph Smith. The same priesthood during the time of Christ is on the Earth today. We have a living prophet today who is here to guide us through these latter days. I have been blessed in so many ways, starting with my family. Our life here on Earth does have a purpose, by serving others and living the commandments of God we can find our own happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

There is a special type of karma in our church, Because church positions are not paid, the Lord blesses us with many blessings as we serve him and others. I have been so blessed in my life, my family, my education, my year in Hawaii, are blessing to just name a few. I now have a call to serve a full time two year mission for my Church, I will be serving in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. As a missionary I will spend two years, inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. I am excited to serve others and try and bring them the happiness and blessing I have received and felt in my life.
