Hi I'm Megan Hooper

I am a student. I am a missionary. I am a daughter and a sister. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, and I moved to Arkansas when I was 8. I come from a family of 5, and I am the oldest of 3 kids. My family and the Church are without a doubt the most important things in my life. They are what keeps me going and provides a focus and drive for my life. I played volleyball and ran track and high school and I loved it. Playing sports really helped me to learn what I stood for and allowed me to be an example of others. I grew up in the Bible Belt so church and beliefs were a constant topic of conversation among friends and adults. I was able to use the experiences to help me become a better missionary and become comfortable with sharing the gospel and my testimony with others. I have been studying Political Science at Brigham Young University Idaho. I love it so much there and have had some of the most incredible experiences. I am also serving a mission for 18 months in the Fort Collins Colorado mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for two very simple reasons. This gospel makes me so happy, and I know it is true. Heavenly Fathers church is perfect and leads to happiness and salvation. If we are doing everything we are supposed to be doing and following His commandments, we will feel our Fathers love and see so many blessings in our lives. There have been countless times in my life when I have been in the dark and it is because of my Savior and His church that I was able to find the light again. There is an idea that the world brings sufficient happiness and that it is all we need in our lives, but I know that it is only through the gospel that we will truly understand what that means. My family helps me every single day to remember what my testimony is and how important it really is. It is because of my testimony, my knowledge that my Savior loves me and that He atoned for my sins, my knowledge that Joseph Smith restored the gospel to this earth and translated the Book of Mormon, and my knowledge that we have a true and living prophet on the earth today that I am able to be strong and resist the adversary and his temptations. I know that by enduring to the end and doing what is right, that I will return and live with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being as much of an example as I can be. I have had so many awesome experiences where I've been able to share my beliefs with my friends because I made sure people knew I was a member of the church. I've had so many amazing callings that have helped me to learn and grow. Those include President of the Beehives and Laurels, Relief Society meetings coordinator, and a Ward Missionary. Some of the best experiences happened as a Ward Missionary as our focus was social media. I was able to share my testimony and inspired words from our apostles through Facebook and Instagram. As I have been preparing to serve a mission, it has opened so many doors to what I'm doing and why I'm serving a mission. It has allowed me to live my faith in a much more publicly and it has been a blessing in my life. The next step for me is to serve a mission in Fort Collins, Colorado and live my faith every single day as I serve the Lord and His children.
