Hi I'm Leahra

20 years old. Currently serving in the Texas Houston East Mission!

About Me

My favorite color is Pink. I LOVE watching/playing sports! The Boston Red Sox & Orlando Magic are my teams. Cooking food is another hobby as well, so I can eat it or share it with someone. Chocolate chip pancakes are my favorite right now. Also, camping in the mountains; preferably when the weather is decent enough that I don't need to bring 2,431 extra blankets. I try to go fishing but it's a rare occasion that I catch something. I really enjoy painting my nails! I love reading books (low-key I'm into history), and I will listen to most types of music. I like to tell cheesy jokes and go shopping no matter how many purses I already have. I love teaching children how to read and whatnot (I was a tutor for autistic children before I started full-time preaching). The Holy Ghost is my best friend because he is ALWAYS there to help me out. You could call him a "true homie" or "the real MVP." Anyways I love making new friends and most importantly sharing my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon simply because a young man 25 years ago decided to dedicate 2 years of his life to the Lord and serve a mission. This missionary was called to serve in Dominican Republic, where my mother lived. He found and taught the gospel to her. Without him, I would have not grown up in the church. That is one of the reasons why I became a missionary, so I can do the same for other people. I could not imagine living my life without the knowledge that families can be together for eternity! The Book of Mormon tells us that "the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ. He is the light and life of the world, a light that can never be darkened." -Mosiah 16:8-9 The gospel gives me hope, because I know with a surety that there is nothing the Atonement of Jesus Christ cannot overcome.

How I live my faith

Being a full-time missionary has helped my faith grow immensely. I feel that it grows every single day I am out here. Learning from the scriptures and praying gives us more understanding, and when we share that understanding with other we become more like Jesus Christ. I love that as a missionary we focus on individuals and what their specific needs are. As Joseph Smith said, "The worth of every soul is great in the sight of God." When you look at someone as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ sees them, you immediately love them, and want then to reach their full potential and live the gospel so they can be blessed. Elder Evans of the Seventy spoke while I was in the MTC (Missionary Training Center, Provo) in June. He said "Giving your all to others will keep you away from your own problems." It's absolutely true! P.S. If you haven't seen "Meet the Mormons" you should for real watch it because it is the most legit movie.
