Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Utah my whole life. I went to Lone Peak High School and I recently finished my first year at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live through sports. I love to play sports, watch sports, and talk about sports. I am the middle child between two girls. I have loved BYU my entire life and now I go there and it's amazing! I play the piano and a little bit of the guitar. I love every kind of music except rock/metal and I listen to music whenever and wherever possible. I am serving a mission in the Argentina, Cordoba mission beginning July 15th, 2015. I am so excited to serve The Lord and I can't wait to get out in the field!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been in the LDS church since I was eight years old. At that point in my life, I was really only LDS because my parents were and I just followed in their footsteps. However, by going to church and experiencing the joy of the gospel for myself has changed who I am and why I live the gospel. The church gives the youth many, many opportunities to have spiritual experiences. Some of these that I experienced were Mini-Missions, Trek, Mutual, Scout Camp, and simply going to church every week. Luckily I also had friends that were all LDS so that certainly helped me think of the church as a good, enjoyable place to be. The church has changed my life and I can think of countless experiences that have strengthened my testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and I know for myself that the LDS church is true and that's something that nobody will ever be able to take away from me!

How I live my faith

Like every other active LDS member, I go to church every week, read my scriptures and pray every day, and participate in the church's activities. However, the older that I get the more I change my approach to each of these things, and that's what I think makes the foundation of my testimony strong. Instead of just reading my scriptures to get it done for the night, I actually think about what the author wants the reader to know and take away from his principles within the scriptures. When I pray, I do my best to make it personal and not repetitive. I think that if I do my best to create a relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, then it will be easier to stay away from temptation and experience the joy that comes from the gospel. The biggest thing that stands out to me about how I live my faith is my soon-to-be mission in Argentina. I can't wait to serve The Lord non-stop and strengthen my relationship with Him and Christ. I love the gospel and I can't wait to share it with the people in Argentina so that they can experience the same joy that I get from the gospel!
