Hi I'm Dustin Myers

I'm a high school graduate serving a mission in Salem Oregon. I am a computer guy. I love the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I worked two jobs, one as a hardware store employee, and the other as an internet tower service assistant. I enjoy building elecronic circuits and fixing broken things. I played the bass in an orchestra and band. I come from a family of five, two sisters, my mother, father, and myself. Our family has done foster care for many years. I now am serving a mission in the Oregon Salem Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was baptized at age 8 and i have been a member since. I grew up thoroughly enjoying feeling promptings from the spirit, and receiving guidance from my Heavenly Father as I followed his word.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I went to seminary during school, and I am currently serving a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I regularly attend church and hold callings and participate in the different church functions.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Dustin Myers
We have a document that explains this principle. It's called The Family: A Proclamation to The World. In it, it outlines the basic beliefs that we have of family. We believe that the family is ordained of God and that marriage between a man and a woman is essential to his eternal plan for us. Marriage should take place in the temple where the family can be sealed together for eternity in this life and the next. We believe also that fathers are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families and preside over the family in love and righteousness, whereas, the mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Dustin Myers
God gives his authority to man on earth because he loves us . Not having the proper authority to baptize and to do these other ordinances would be similar to an ice cream man pulling you over and giving you a speeding ticket. It just does not make sense. We have the restored priesthood authority of God given to man from God. There are two divisions in the priesthood. There is the aaronic priesthood, and the Melchizedek priesthood. The aaronic priesthood authority was given to the Prophet Joseph Smith by John the Baptist. The melchizedek priesthood was given to Joseph Smith by Peter, James, and John, the apostles during Christ time, as resurrected beings. Any worthy male member of the church can hold the priesthood. All of those males who hold the priesthood can trace their priesthood authority straight to Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
