Hi I'm Mayranne

I grew up in Mapleton, UT. Student at BYU. Preparing for a mission in Sendai Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished a year at BYU and am now serving my mission in Sendai Japan! I've loved meeting new people, learning new things, and getting more and more excited about life. My family originally started in Japan. My mother joined the church when she was 18 and came to America to attend BYU and met my father. They moved to Japan, started a family, and then when I was about 6 months old, they moved back to America. Growing up with a Japanese mother and an American father along with 5 brothers has shaped me into who I am today. Playing ball in the backyard, eating with chopsticks, knowing when to call "daddy" when my brothers were too much, and correcting my mothers English when it sounded a little funny were all part of the norm. I've loved my upbringing and becoming who I am. A big part of my life these last few years has been teaching tennis. There are about 100 kids and 30 adults that come throughout the week. Little did I know how much patience, persistence, kindness and hard work I would learn! Along with teaching and interacting with kids and adults, I admire the outdoors. Hiking, camping, boating, fishing, skiing, you name it, I'll hop on board! Right now, my main focus is my mission. I love serving people and helping them come to understand God's love for them.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon is very simple. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints makes me happy. By living the doctrines and principles, I feel the promised peace and I recognize the associated blessings. I know that God has the capacity to love all His children. And that He does. I think of how much my parents love me. They want the absolute best for me. And then I think of my perfect father in heaven and His capacity to love. It's beyond my comprehension, but I know His love is real. There is so much peace and hope that comes from knowing that God is our loving Heavenly Father who is always with us. There is so much more peace than confusion and more joy than pain when we have faith in Him. I am a Mormon because I can feel that what I am doing is right. As I follow our Prophet and the teachings taught in the scriptures, I can feel God shaping me, and I want to be who He wants me to be because I know that's when I will be my absolute best. We were created and designed to live for eternity, and not to just exist, but to rule as God's in all happiness and joy and peace. This is my goal. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing very little things. I know it doesn't need to be grand to be significant. When I smile to those I don't know, have more patience with those that I may not agree with, or are kind to those who are unkind, I know that I am living what I have been taught. One of my favorite ways I have lived my faith was teaching 7 and 8 year old kids. It was refreshing to study the very fundamental truths of our church. As I prepared to teach a lesson each week, I could feel the love that our Heavenly Father has for each of His children. It is incredible. When we study and learn, we show that we love God. There are little things that each of us can do to live our faith. I know that our Heavenly Father blesses each effort to follow Him. He is bound to bless us when we obey Him. We are doing better than we think sometimes. Our Father in Heaven has more faith in us than sometimes we have in ourselves. By having hope in these things, I know I am living my faith. The biggest way I'm living my faith now is serving a mission! It may be difficult at times, but I absolutely love it. I love being pat of God's great work, and I feel so privileged to be a part of it. I wake up early, study , and serve. Although it may sound like a sacrifice, I feel that it is such a blessing. I know that when you are diligent to the Lord, He will guide and bless you.
