Hi I'm William "Bud" Balagna

I was born and raised in a small town in north central Illinois and am a convert to the Church.

About Me

My wife and I have five daughters and two sons. We are the grandparents of twenty-six (almost twenty-seven) grandchildren. I enjoy family history, travel, sports, gardening, and outdoor activities. I have worked in various fields of construction and service industries and was a high school teacher for several years. I have been actively involved in community activites including high school board member, business association member, volunteer fire and rescue member, and school consolidation committee member.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth I was actively involved in a protestant church. After marrying my wife, we occasionally attended different churches to find one that we could attend together. Our efforts waned until we did not attend any church. Fortunately, my rooommate at Officer Training School in the Air Force was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We became very good friends. He and his wife introduced my wife and me to the missionaries who taught us about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We could feel the power of their lessons and could feel the promptings of the Spirit testifying to us of the truthfullness of their message. We joined the Church and have been very actively involved in it ever since. It has been very important to us and to our family and has guided us throughout our lives. I know that it is the Church of Christ and of Heavenly Father and they are directing prophets on the earth today as well as guiding us in our lives.

How I live my faith

I have served many years teaching teens and adults at Church and have also been greatly involved with young men activities and in leadership positions in the branches, wards and stakes that I have lived in. My wife and I have served in the Logan Temple as ordinance workers over four years. Often, as a Home Teacher, I have been assigned to elderly couples, widows, or those with special needs. I have been involved in numerous community activities and organizations such as high school board, school consolidation committee, volunteer fire and rescue, local business association, Chamber of Commerce. I have been involved with the planning and directing of activites for a variety of age groups and have been responsible for reorganizing recreational and club facilities and personnel.
