Hi I'm Ryan Burgess

I love my friends and my family. I love to laugh and enjoy life. I'm a Mormon. And I'm a Missionary.

About Me

I love life, it is an amazing miracle of an experience. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the son of the Living God. I am Currently serving as a missionary in the Iowa Des Moines mission, speaking Spanish. Despite the area I have grown up in and my plans for the future, there has been a lot of opposition in my life. Even growing up with many privileges and conveniences that I am extremely grateful for; my life has not been a walk in the park. Struggles and trials continue to present themselves, but I am grateful for my family who has guided me through those struggles and will always do so. My life is full of Joy, the Joy of the Gospel, I have a hope for the most incredible future. And because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, That hope is closer than it ever has been, it is possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a member of this church. My parents are members, and so are all of my immediate family members. Despite this upbringing I have chosen for my self to participate actively in following the gospel of Jesus Christ. My conversion to this church occurred over a period of time when I was struggling to really know if all I had been taught was true. I decided that I needed to know. And so i chose. I decided to be faithful to the example and testimony of my parents as well as that of those around me and act in faith. Once I had decided to believe in this church, my testimony began to grow. And now, around 3 years after my decision to believe, I can say with all the conviction of my heart and soul that I know. I know that God loves each and every one of his children, myself included. I know that the atonement and power of Jesus Christ is real and it can work for everyone. I can say that I now stand with a sure testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only way we can truly be happy in this life. I have a profound knowledge and testimony that I am a Child of God. He is my father, and i am his son, with an eternal destiny and nature. That is why I am a Mormon. To be happy and to help others become happy as well.

How I live my faith

Living my faith, involves just that; faith. I realize that god has laid out all of these amazing organizations in the church that will help me to become a better person. As I trust in God and his love for me, I take action; in faith, to live as he would have me live. I live my faith through the purifying power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, coupled with the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. Knowing that I am not perfect does not excuse mistakes, it gives me the humility to continue on the path that God has laid out for me. The biggest way one can live their faith, is through humble obedience to the commandments of God.

What is faith?

Ryan Burgess
Faith to me is an action word. It is trusting in our Heavenly Father, and in things we may not see or know, but still have a desire to believe. Faith is making the choice to stand up for what you believe and to do what you feel is right. God will never lead us astray and we must always trust that he has our best interest in mind. Who was Joseph Smith?

Ryan Burgess
Joseph Smith was the First Prophet Called in the Latter Days with the Restoration of the Gospel and Church of Jesus Christ. At age 14, as an answer to fervent prayer: He wanted to Know which of all the Churches in the world were Correct or if any of them were. In answer to his humble prayer Joseph saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He was a prophet, just like Moses, Isaiah and others in biblical times. Show more Show less
