Hi I'm Carolyn

I'm leaving to serve a mission in Vancouver, Washington. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying microbiology (and thinking about a Hebrew minor). I love to read; my mother and I are always suggesting books to each other. I help teach a self-defense class with my dad. I have six younger siblings and I love each and every crazy one of them. We can't get enough of spending time together, and support each other in everything.

Why I am a Mormon

I think that many people (some Mormons included) assume that if you grow up in the Church you've got it settled as far as beliefs go. I've grown up in the Church and that hasn't been my experience at all, whatever it may look like on the outside. I know that I've been influenced by the righteous example of my parents, but the choice of believing and the choice of committing to God has always been mine alone. It is by my own experiences and by decisions made in faith that I have learned to trust God. I love Him. Through trials and my own errors I have learned of His mercy and the strength that He offers to me. I have read His words in the Book of Mormon and the Bible and I have felt His Spirit confirm to me that they are truth. I know that He is always near me, ready to help me the moment I reach out to Him.

How I live my faith

I was involved in a ward committee that was responsible to take care of the little bits of service needed in the ward, and particularly to watch out for those who needed help. This is difficult to do in a singles ward because there is so many people coming and going. I decided to focus on meeting the sisters so that I could be better aware of their needs. I started making brownies every Sunday and visiting a couple of apartments so that I could meet the sisters living there, and share a tasty treat. I got to know and love so many of the women around me that I probably would never have met otherwise; it was a wonderful blessing for me.
