Hi I'm Lauren

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Eagle, Idaho. I am the oldest of two brothers.

Why I am a Mormon

Recently I've been thinking a lot about what it means when I say "I'm a Mormon." I am blessed to go to a church school where everyone knows and strives to live the same standards I do. But this blessing can sometimes cause me to forget what it actually means when I say that I am follower of Jesus Christ. I came across a talk by Elder Holland in the 2014 May Ensign entitled "The Cost-and Blessings-of Discipleship." While reading this I couldn't help but look back upon situations in my life to where I could have been a "better Mormon." Elder Holland says "Be Strong. Live the gospel faithfully even if others around you don't live it at all. Defend your beliefs with courtesy and with compassion, but defend them. --In courageously pursuing such a course, you will forge unshakeable faith, you will find safety against ill winds that blow, even shafts in the whirlwind, and you will feel the rock- like strength of our Redeemer, upon whom if you build your unflagging discipleship, you cannot fall." So beautifully stated. I found those words to be so touching. I have tried continuing to remind myself what it means to represent our Savior when I say that I am a member of His church. Sometimes it can be easy to stand up for what you believe in, other times, not so much. But in the end the Lord will always protect us when we choose to choose the right.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve in the Tokyo Japan mission. But going on a mission was never part of my plan. But slowly that little idea of going on a mission became a strong feeling. I have no doubt in my mind that this adventure if you will that I am about to go on will be one of if not thee hardest thing I do. But I know that the Lord will surely be with me every step of the way. I also am fairly confident knowing that I will never regret going out and serving the Lord for 18 months. I’ve recently spent a lot of time learning more about the Atonement and what it took to make it possible to return to our loving Heavenly Father. Christ had the opportunity to choose whether or not to die since he was born of an earthly mother he had the ability to die but since he had an eternal father he also had the ability to withstand death so it was his conscious decision to give his life and when I think of that I have no problem giving up 18 months of my life. The gospel is such a beautiful thing. I love that this church is so centered around our Father in Heavens love for us. When you feel his love in your life, how could you not want to share it with those around you who are missing it. I want to be able to bring that light into the homes of those who are missing it.
