Hi I'm Skylar

I grew up in Utah. I love to sing, and I hope one day to be a nurse and help people around the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! Currently I am in college and hoping to enter the nursing program. My dream is to become a nurse and use that skill in humanitarian work around the world. Ever since my humanitarian trip to Guatemala I've had a great desire to find an occupation that helps others and nursing definitely fits that description. From Guatemala I learned I can do hard things and that people can be happy no matter their circumstances. Another thing you need to know about me is that I am very passionate about music. I play the piano and I sing all the time. As a result, I am a big fan of musicals like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Phantom of the Opera, and Kiss me Kate. I also have a wonderful family that I look up to so much. They are the world to me and I don't know where I would be without them.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been member of this church for my whole life, but it has taken time for me to really find out what I believe in and that this church is true. Starting college this year was definitely a challenge for me and got me thinking about if I actually have a testimony. What I've come to realize is that I've really had a testimony all a long and I just didn't realize it. I know now that I am a Mormon because of the way the gospel and going to church makes me feel. Whenever I listen in church I just feel that what they are saying is true. When I read the Book of Mormon I feel at peace within my self. When I think about my Savior and my Heavenly Father I know that they love me and have a plan for me. I am a Mormon because keeping the commandments makes me happy. I know that this gospel is true and that it is the way to achieve a meaningful life.

How I live my faith

Recently, I received my mission call to Lima Peru and I am so excited to serve! I know it will be hard, but I can't wait to share with people the gospel that I love so much. This past year I have really enjoyed my visiting teaching and I have learned so much from my companion and the girls I have taught. As a visiting teaching supervisor I have come to realize just how important it is that everyone knows that they have some where to turn for comfort and guidance.
