Hi I'm Sydney Anderson

I grew up in Sandy, Utah. I love anything to do with music, especially the piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of three girls in my family. I love to play the piano, play the violin, sing, and do anything that involves music. I've been in a choir of some form or another since I was in 9th grade until now. I also love western swing dancing. I'm majoring in Technical Communications, which is a branch of English. I love books and one of my favorite pastimes is curling up with a good book. I love to run for exercise and I also love to play tennis with my family. I just finished my freshman year in college. I'm currently serving an LDS mission to Birmingham, Alabama.

Why I am a Mormon

Until I was about 12, I was a Mormon because my family was Mormon. I went to church because my parents went to church and I I did what they did. When I was 12, I decided I needed to know for myself if this church was true. I spent that summer going to some church camps for LDS girls and had some wonderful experiences. I felt my belief in the gospel start to grow at some of these summer camps. I don't remember any one lightning moment where I suddenly knew the gospel was true, but my knowledge of this gospel has come little by little. The only way I know that the things we do in the LDS church help to improve our lives is that I've done them. I've been able to look back at my life and see what a difference living with this gospel has had for me. This gospel is everything to me and I don't know where I would be right now without it. My testimony is certainly not perfect, but I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father lives and loves each of us perfectly. He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to come to this Earth and suffer for our sins so we could live with them again. I know they both love us immensely and perfectly because I have felt it. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, called by God to restore Christ's church on the earth again. The Book of Mormon that was translated by Joseph Smith is true doctrine and I have seen it change my life and the lives of others around me. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet on the earth today and that the things he says are the things God wants us to hear. I'm so grateful for this gospel and for the person it has made me today.

How I live my faith

I love this gospel and one of the things I love about it is that it is applicable in every day life and I'm able to make small changes every day to bring me closer to Christ. One of the biggest ways I've lived my faith is through music. I've played a few songs in our weekly church meetings. I also have helped to play the piano when the youth gather for weekly activities. I've helped to serve in presidencies for groups of girls my age and I've even taught a couple of lessons to people my own age. Most recently, I directed a choir and ran practices weekly. Our ward choir sang several times throughout the year in our weekly meetings.
