Hi I'm Susan

I grew up in Fruit Heights, Utah, USA. I am a retired Labor and Delivery nurse. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married mother of five, and grandmother of 15. I am a retired nurse. I have lived in Japan, England and the USA and traveled to Norway, Fiji, Peru, Europe, China, Canada. I enjoy cooking, gardening, sewing, and crafts. I also enjoy hiking and biking and sailing. I love to play practical jokes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was "born of goodly parents" and have been a Mormon all my life. There has never been a time that I did not believe the teachings of my parents or the church. In my teenage years I developed a love of God and knew that He heard and answered my prayers, that He wanted me to be happy and to return to live with Him someday. As I have read and studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon, my testimony has grown, and my desire to share my feelings with others has grown stronger. I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who was chosen to restore His gospel in its fulness to the earth one last time. I believe Joseph saw what he said he saw, and that he translated the Book of Mormon from golden plates that he received from a resurrected being named Moroni. I have been married for eternity in God's holy temple.

How I live my faith

I love attending my church meetings. I have served in all our church's organizations, but the calling I have done the most and loved the most is to teach in the women's organization. I play the piano very poorly and when I am called upon to play, I wish that I had been a better piano student. I have taught in the children's organization, but truthfully it scares me.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Jesus had "other sheep" to visit, and that visit is recorded in the Book of Mormon. That is my favorite part of the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

I make mistakes frequently, but I know as I repent and honestly try to do better, that I can be forgiven because of the sacrifice that Jesus made for me. It is also comforting to know that I will live again--death is not the end because my Savior died that so I can be resurrected Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I have learned through study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and then praying about what I have studied, that Heavenly Father --the Father of my spirit--created this earth for mankind. That His plan for me was to be born and gain a body and learn right from wrong and use free agency. I can return to live with Him again after I have learned to be obedient and valiant in my faith, to follow the perfect example of my Savior Jesus Christ and become like Him, to make and keep sacred covenants, to serve others. To become perfect? Probably not, but to be the best I can be. Show more Show less
