Hi I'm Ike Burton

I'm a mountain biking, wrestling, life loving mormon.

About Me

I am the third oldest of nine kids in my family. Eight boys and one girl who is the oldest of the bunch. I have been blessed greatly to have grown up in the church through which I've gained a strong testimony of this gospel. My summers through high school have been spent working at a boy scout camp called Camp Loll. It is located right in-between Yellowstone national park and the Grand Teton national park. My time up in those majestic woods, serving those around me, brought me closer to my Heavenly Father than anything else could. "What better way to get to know your maker than to spend time in his creations." I also love to mountain bike, wrestle, chill with my friends, deer hunt, fly fish, and do basically anythings else outside. Life is good, and it's about to get a ton better because I'm off to serve a mission in Argentina! I'm so excited to share with others the gospel that I love!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been blessed to grow up in this church, that is not the reason I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have come to know the truth of this gospel on my own. Through studying the scriptures, praying to my Heavenly Father, attending church and seminary, and through many confirmations from the spirit, I know that this church is true. I am a Mormon because I can feel the light and joy that it brings to me and my family. I have felt for myself the blessings that come through righteously living the gospel. I know the power of prayer. He hears and answers them. Sometimes they aren't quite what we want, but it is always for our best. I can feel the holy ghost everyday in my life. He is constantly with us and influences every decision we make as long as we are listening. Through this gospel I know that there is life after death and that families can be together forever! That fact brings me so much joy! We are here on this earth for a purpose. There are so many people out there who don't know that. I have been blessed enough to know it and now its my job to spread that knowledge to others. I am able to hold the priesthood which is the literal power of God here on earth. As long as I am worthy I will be able to use it to bless those around me. I know the truth of this gospel and the joy it brings, and I want my future family to have that joy also. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith knowing that I will soon be serving a mission, that someday I want to be married in the temple, and ultimately that I want to return to my heavenly father someday knowing that I made him proud. Because of these goals I try to live everyday in a way that would please him. I do everything I can to be and to always stay worthy of the priesthood I hold. I have been given the great opportunity and calling of being seminary president at my high school. This calling helps me to focus even more on living righteously and it reminds me that I need to be a good example to those around me. I do my best to be kind to others, and to always be honest and trustworthy. I also do my best to be a good friend and to serve those around me. I study the scriptures and commune with my heavenly father through prayer daily. And I know that he hears and answers my prayers. I try to always remember what my brother and savior jesus christ did for me and everyone. He atoned for our sins so that we can live with him again and receive everlasting glory. I live my faith by looking at this beautiful world knowing that our Father in Heaven created it all and that every person here is his son or daughter. That is how I live my faith.
