Hi I'm Steve

I'm a leather artisan, I'm a husband, father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

For the past 45 years I have been a leather craftsman. Although I have made many different things out of leather, my specialty is making handbags. I am married, a dad, and have three grown children, grand children and one great grand daughter. I was born in Minnesota and, although I've lived all over the country Minnesota is the place I call home. My vocation was a printer for 32 years. I rose to the ranks to become a master printer. My biggest success was to start my own printing company which, from the start, became very busy printing one to four color work.

Why I am a Mormon

My exposure to LDS started with Missionaries coming to the house. My wife became a Mormon in 1981. Because of becoming disillusioned with churches many years ago, I just didn't go. I was a Christian, but going to church was not high on my list of things to do, so we didn't go. Missionaries came, visited a few times, and then I asked my wife not to invite them back. This happened a number of times, with both Elders and Sisters. It's funny they didn't get tired of me. Once I said "I'm never going to join" and really meant it. A time went by and then there was another knock on the door. It was two Sisters. They shed their coats, sat down, and we began visiting. They talked for awhile I just listened. They were really upbeat, a joy to have in our home. I just couldn't get over that they were so dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ. Each time the Sisters came the room became a little brighter and their eyes just sparkled with the joy of sharing the gospel. Yes, as you can guess, I asked to join Christ's Church. The "never" never happened. We started attending church, I became baptized, confirmed, and filled with the Holy Spirit. The people in the church are just wonderful. You can tell that the love of God and Jesus are in their hearts. Each service is always full of enjoyment. I know Christ is the savior, Joseph Smith was a prophet and this church is true. My conversion has been completed. The story of my life as a Mormon has just began. I'm proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints!

How I live my faith

I'm relatively new to the Mormon faith and have just started visiting teaching. We are attending a small gathering called "empty-nesters" with ward members. We have a potluck once a month and Bible lessons the rest of the time. We meet every Monday afternoon.
