Hi I'm Ashley Barker

I'm from Wisconsin. I love my family more than anything. I am serving in Louisville, Kentucky. I love the GKLM . I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in four different states, all across the United States. I am currently in Wisconsin, the land of cows and cheese. I showed cows for three years and it was a wonderful experience. It really helped me to appreciate all of God's creations. I attended one semester at BYU- Idaho, and I have plans to go back to study nursing, after I return home from my mission. I am serving a full time mission in the Louisville, Kentucky Mission. I feel very blessed that I may serve in Kentucky and meet the wonderful people who live there. I love the Lord and his gospel, I cant wait to share it with those who are ready or who don't know they are searching for it, yet.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have been raised in the church, but that doesn't mean I didn't need to be converted. In my teen years I was going through a very hard time with the current place I was living and I felt that know one understood me. But that all change when I realized there was only one person that knew exactly what I was going through. Jesus Christ suffered not only for our sins but for our pains, sorrow, and afflictions (Alma 7:11-12). This experience is what led me to be converted. After realizing our Savior true love for me, I strived even harder to live the gospel, pray, and have scripture study. I read, pondered, and asked God to know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. After praying I can boldly testify that I know the Book of Mormon is a sacred companion to the Bible as another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and as I use his atoning sacrifice I can live with my Heavenly Father again. I also know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration. I know with all my heart that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the earth today. For all of these reasons and more, I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The biggest way I have lived my faith is volunteering to serve an 18 month mission. I will be honest, it was not an easy decision. It took much prayer and scripture study to follow Heavenly Father guidance to decide to serve a mission. I knew going on a mission was going to be a big act of faith. Stepping into the mission field I know faith without works is dead (James 2:17-18) and I am striving to represent Jesus Christ with all my heart. Even though some days are harder than others, I push through because I know the Lord is on my side helping me know where to be to find people that are ready to hear His teachings. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I live my faith by being an example. I try to be an example of how the Lord asks us to live.
