Hi I'm Melanie

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am a mother of 3 children and grandmother of 8. I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I am a full time wife, mother, grandmother and daughter of God. I love to be with my family in all activities from our church meetings and 'Family Home Evenings' to staying at our favorite hotel in Laguna Beach and eating ice cream. I've been married to my hero for over 34 years and I can truly say that it has been the best journey of my life. We are beginning a new journey as we prepare to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Australia Adelaide Mission beginning on August 24, 2015. We look forward to serving and helping to bring others unto Christ. I completed my BA from BYU in 'Interior Environment'. I truly enjoy creating and organizing. After my many years of homework, I thought I was finished with it. But as children came along, I learned that homework continues on through children and life! Music is one of my joys. I enjoy playing and accompanying on the piano. I started accompanying when I was 12 yrs old for Primary at church. I am grateful for very patient choristers who taught me how to follow their lead with kindness. My mother raised me to love Bach, Chopin, Mozart and lots of fun music from musicals such as 'The Sound of Music.' I also enjoy listening to the 70's era music.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! I have been a member all of my life and I've loved the scriptures from a young age. When I was 14, I began attending early morning seminary. It was during these years that my testimony grew as I learned about Jesus and the prophets and what I can do to better myself and be happy. I gained a personal testimony that Jesus Christ lives and suffered and atoned for my sins and for everyone's sins. Through Christ's atonement, I feel an overwhelming peace and joy. I testify of the prophet Joseph Smith and that he received a vision of God The Father and His son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith, as a 14 yr old boy, prayed to know which church to join. With time, Joseph was instructed by heavenly messengers in restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all the ordinances and priesthood authority that were here when Jesus Christ and his apostles were upon the earth. I testify of The Book of Mormon. This record was written upon gold plates by ancient prophets and testifies of Christ and His teachings. These gold plates were translated by the power of God through Joseph Smith with all the truths and instructions of Christ's Church in it's purest form today and is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I follow our living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson. I know that he holds all the keys and authority to lead and direct Christ's Church. Just as in the days of Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we have a living prophet today. How can we ever think that God would not give us a prophet for our day to lead and guide us? Of course God wouldn't leave us alone (Acts 10:34)! We have a living prophet now, President Thomas S. Monson. I testify of this! These are a few of the reasons why I love being a Mormon! It stands for all truth and righteousness. It shows the way towards joy and eternal life as families.

How I live my faith

One of the things I do with my time is helping with women in our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's called Visiting Teaching. I do this with a friend and we visit several women individually each month to share our care and concern for them and see how they are doing. Sometimes we just listen about their daily events, and sometimes we help with their needs, and almost always we share a religious message that can help with whatever challenges they may be going through at the time.
