Hi I'm Mikayla

I love adventure and love challenging myself with new tasks. I am a student at Brigham Young University. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love recreation. I've grown up experiencing the outdoors from hiking to rafting to hunting to camping. I've always lived in Utah and I love the amazing recreation opportunities with the mountains close and so much water everywhere. I am currently a college student studying recreation therapy. I graduate in a year and am so excited to get out and show people how to use recreation as a modality for healing and increased quality of life. I love life and the opportunities it presents.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. But I didn't always understand it. When I was a little girl, I remember looking at the speakers in church and wondering why they were all crying. What was causing them to feel so deeply about this that they cry? As I thought about that and grew up a little bit I decided I needed to ask for myself if it was true. One night I read in the Book of Mormon - Moroni 10: 3-4 that we should ask if these things are not true. I knelt by my bed and sincerely asked if the Book of Mormon was true. My whole chest filled with a warm, comforting feeling that was subtle but couldn't be denied. Since then I have had many more experiences with scriptures, prayer and the Spirit that have continued to strengthen my knowledge that Jesus is my personal Savior and I have a Heavenly Parents who love me. I am so grateful for this knowledge and the blessing it is to be a member of the true gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by recognizing the power of a community to strengthen each other. I have been so blessed in my life with the strength of my neighbors. They have helped my family and I to get through tough times. Knowing that we have their support helps me to be confident in my ability to get through trials in the future. I have tried to hold this truth in my life as I participate in my callings within the church. I strive to make sure everyone around me feels of my love for them. I love making new friends and want each of them to know that I am there when they need help with anything. I live my faith by serving not only the members of my church but also my community by giving back what I can.
