Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in Rexburg Idaho. I love the outdoors, music, and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy sports and physical activities. I like being productive, and staying busy while still having fun. I am going to college at BYU Provo after my mission. My intended major is computer science. I played the trumpet and sang in high school. I am leaving on a mission to Oklahoma City, and am excited to serve there for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because it makes me so happy. I was brought up in the church, but didn't always have a strong testimony. I thought that there were so many rules that would take away my time and effort and leave me with less. When I was forced to do service projects or give my time to the church, I would sometimes do it grudgingly. It did not make me happy. When I learned about life after death and how wonderful heaven was, I wanted to get there whatever it took. I started trying to be a good person and obey my parents, and soon I found that following the rules that the church gave made me happy. I didn't understand why, but I felt joy and love from following the commandments. Others seemed to want to be around me more, and I had better self-esteem. I eventually learned that all those rules weren't made to help the church, they were made to help me to be happy. The more selfless I am, the more joy and purpose I have in my life.

How I live my faith

I love to serve and work on improving myself. I participated in my school's Key Club, a club that does service projects and helps with recycling in the school. Shoveling snow and mowing lawns is refreshing for me, and seeing how people appreciate it is a great reward. I also believe that being friendly to others is one of the best kinds of service. Challenging myself to reach out to those I don't know is something that can be out of my comfort zone, but the church encourages me to love others, so I try to treat them like Christ would.
