Hi I'm Spencer

My friends call me Spencer. I grew up in Syracuse, New York and Lindon, Utah. I love life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There's four things you should know about me 1. I love my family. I get frustrated with them all the time, but I love to be with them. Family games or late-night chats are the best. I'm pumped for when I can create a family of my own. 2. I like to stand out. Most of my hobbies don't fit the norm: I love rollerblading, yoga, long jogs in the mountains, opera music, playing the harmonica, and eating cookies. (I guess the last one's pretty normal :) 3. I have no clue what I want to do for a career. Which is okay! I'm only a senior in High School and I don't need everything planned out yet. If I keep doing what's right and trust God, everything will work out in the end. 4. I love Pixar movies! It really makes no sense - an 18-year old guy in love with kid's movies. But it's the truth! My favorite has to be Up; I cry almost every time I watch it. It's just so beautiful! Carl and Ellie are definitely one of my role-models for my future marriage.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents took me to Church every week, so I've been a Mormon my whole life. But my parents told me that I shouldn't go to church just because they want me to - I should go because I know it's important. They wanted me to have a personal knowledge, or testimony, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really is Jesus Christ's Church. So when I was twelve-ish, I began praying to know if it was true. But I became frustrated because I wasn't getting an answer, only the thought, "You already know it's true." Every time I prayed about it, I had the same thought. It was so frustrating! Eventually, I recognized that I really had known all along. I realized that whenever I went to Church, prayed to God, read the scriptures, or sang a hymn, with the right attitude, I had a peaceful feeling come over me. That peaceful feeling was very powerful sometimes and less-so at other times. But all of those small experiences added together allow me to say, without a doubt, that I know this is Jesus Christ's restored Church. That knowledge and my desire to serve Christ is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus Christ. Obviously I won't ever reach his level of perfection in this life, but I keep trying my best everyday. He served, strengthened, and uplifted everyone around him, and that's what I try to do everyday at school. When I fall short, I lean on Jesus to strengthen and comfort me.
