Hi I'm Laurie Maus

I am a wife and mother from Boise, Idaho. I love my family, and l love teaching dance.

About Me

I have been involved with dance since I was a little girl. I used to love performing then and I love to teach now. I have a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Physical Education and Dance from BYU. I had intended to pursue a Doctoral degree in Dance at New York University. I danced in Italy with them one summer and loved the program. The music professor's invited me to dance with them on different European tours, which worked well for me because I was a flight attendance based in European bases. However, I my studies were cut short as I began to be unable to walk after I had rehearsed for hours on end. I needed to have my both hips rebuilt as I had undiagnosed hip displays and my hips had worn out in my twenties. Surgery was inevitable. I prayed to know what to do and after a long struggle making a decision, I went to Boise, Idaho, where my family lived to have my surgeries. I felt very strongly that this was the place to have it done. In fact, I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness that this decision was the right one. I wondered why I felt so happy about surgery. . . As it turned out, I met my husband while I was home. He patiently helped me while I was in the hospital and during my recuperation time at my parents home. Heavenly Father blessed me with a kind and loving husband and we were married in the Boise, Idaho LDS temple sixteen years ago. Our greatest blessings followed, three amazing sons. I am so very blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to feel the Holy Spirit as a little girl. I felt it when I sang songs about our Savior Jesus Christ. II had faith that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints would bring help me be closer to my Father in Heaven. When I was a young adult, I knew I needed to share that happiness with others. I performed with the Young Ambassadors at Brigham Young University and then served an 18 month mission to Montreal, Canada. I studied about the Book of Mormon and learned about Jesus' ministry here on earth. My husband and I study the scriptures with our children and pray that the Holy Spirit will bless them as the prepare to serve the Lord as missionaries, now and later.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to love and uplift all of children that I come in contact with at school and at dance. I feel that this world is a busy place and that the little ones need many people telling them how amazing they are and helping them to find the potential that lies within them. I like to help them find specific things that they are good at and that make them unique and give them feelings of capability and happiness. My greatest joy is doing that for my own sons. I love them with all of my heart, and I love spending time at the piano and at the pool and the ball fields. I especially love one on one time researching school projects. We are learning together about our beautiful world.
