Hi I'm Kaitlyn Johns

I'm a missionary, I'm an identical twin, I like dolphins, I am in love with Virginia, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Although I was born in the motherland of Salt Lake City Utah, I was raised in a town called Sammamish Washington. I am currently serving a full time mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Richmond, Virginia. I grew up in the church but, I would consider myself to be a convert of the church in my early adulthood. I love to play the guitar and sing for fun, and I like any sport that I can win at :) I grew up working with people that have disabilities and I seek adventure in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have seen the light that this restored gospel has brought into my life. I grew up in the church, never doubting the teachings of the truth. It was just how I was raised and it was my way of life. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and that was excited about the church and the gospel. But as I grew older, I started going through the motions, I did things because that is what was expected me rather than choosing for myself. Still never doubted the church, but soon I started to see the excitement that I used to have for life, and the gospel faded. In my teenage years, I turned in this insecure girl. I have an identical twin sister and so it was always easy for me to fall into the shadows and blend in. But after I graduated High School my twin sister went to school in the fall, and I was off-track for school and was left home by myself. It was during this period in my life where there were no more distractions from my unhappiness. I realized how lost I really was, and I recognized that it would not lead me down the right path. It was that fall, that I decided to really live the gospel, rather than just going through the motions. So I started making my prayers more meaningful and instead of just going to church, I started worshiping at church. And by this time I was at BYU-I, I started to have more confidence. And day by day I really started to discover who I was. For the first time since I could remember, I was truly happy. Then I saw that all of my friends were going on missions, they were having great experiences, and growing spiritually. I think deep down I realized I was growing emotionally and socially at school. But if I wanted to grow spiritually, I needed to serve a mission. So after I got home from college, I put my papers in and left the following January. It has changed my eternity. I am a Mormon because I have seen the fruits of the spirit. I have experienced the dark and am so grateful that I have found the light.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always striving to follow the example my Savior Jesus Christ has set for me. Now I use the word strive as a verb, because it is a constant effort. I fall short everyday but I have seen the fruits of the spirit in my life, and I recognize that they are good. As a missionary I am a representative of Jesus Christ and I do as He would so others can feel His love, and see His light. I do this in many different walks of life, I enjoy serving in my community, and sharing my testimony with others.
