Hi I'm Jacob Mattson

I'm an avid backpacker, entrepreneur, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. A long day on the trail is a good day to me. The wilderness is my paradise and I love to spend long summer days exploring God's creations. I am in the process of creating an outdoor retailer geared to help less-fortunate families and individuals get outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received revelation from our Father in Heaven through His Spirit that this is the church of Jesus Christ on the Earth today. I have received a witness through the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I have come to know that the Book of Mormon is true, that it testifies of the Savior, and that it has the power to change our lives if we read and study it daily. I have gained a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his role in restoring the Power of God on the Earth so that we can be sealed as families for eternity.

How I live my faith

Following the teachings of Jesus Christ has blessed me with peace and happiness in this difficult world. Constantly reading God's word found in the Bible and Book of Mormon, praying, and attending church has given me strength to overcome the trials of life. Selflessly serving others has granted me spiritual healing and has lifted me when I have felt inadequate or unqualified.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jacob Mattson
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was a culmination of His suffering for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, His Crucifixion, and His triumph over death by His resurrection on the third day. Because of the Fall of Adam and Eve, we were separated from God due to our sins and our mortality. Jesus Christ came into the world so that he can pay the price of our sins, thus granting us the opportunity to turn to him and change our lives to follow His teachings. Christ also allowed everyone, no matter who you are, to live again. Christ prepared the way for us to return to live with God, and our job is to follow His commandments so that we can one day live with God and our families forever. Show more Show less
