Hi I'm Taylor Heiner

Born and raised in Utah. I have been called to serve in the Houston, Texas (Spanish speaking) Mission.

About Me

I like long walks on the beach, especially Utah lake, and I enjoy long naps, and I like to wear stretchy pants in my room. But really though, I am 6 foot 5 and love sports. But I'm really bad at soccer, tennis, probably hockey considering the fact that I can't ice skate, but I am ok at volleyball; so basically I just go out and have fun. But I love playing basketball and football, and absolutely love the outdoors. In my life I have had a lot of health challenges and have asked the question: why am I here. I have been through so much, and many times I wonder why God would let me go through my challenges. Before my health problems, I was playing football for American Fork High School, I was doing really good in school, and I had a bright outlook on the future. Then at the beginning of my Junior year of High School I received a disease that shut down my large intestine. I had to quit everything. School was impossible, and I lost all chances of getting a scholarship. Life was tough. But I turned to my Heavenly Father, and my savior Jesus Christ, who were both right there to lift me back up when times got hard. I also love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The church has helped me so much with overcoming my trials. So many people have helped my family, when we needed it the most. I am grateful also for my family. I have such amazing parents and siblings who have guided me and helped me do what is right my entire life. And I am Taylor Heiner and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church, and I have worked hard at being an example of Jesus Christ. Before High School I was always a very shy person. I was that kid, who if you said hi to, you probably wouldn't get a response, and if you did it would have been very faint. But when I got into High School I tried opening up. I worked hard at being an example of Jesus Christ, and following the example that he gave to everyone. In school I wanted everyone to feel loved. I worked hard at complimenting at least 3 different people a day. I loved helping people feel loved and important. Like I said, I was born into the church, but I never really knew I believed that the church was true until I became a teenager. I had an amazing experience, when I was 16 years old. I was having a really hard time understanding if my Heavenly Father really loved me, and that my savior Jesus Christ really did die for me. Basically my life was losing light, and I couldn't seem to find it again. It was one of those nights where I was just reading my scriptures and looking for something that could help me, when I came across 2 Nephi 26: 23-24. The first verse specifically says: "For behold my beloved brethren, I say unto you that the Lord God worketh not in darkness". That verse hit me hard. Probably harder than any other verse I have ever read. Then in the beginning of verse 24 it states: "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world, for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life". After reading this, I prayed to know that this was true, and I got an answer. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints is true. I know and have a firm conviction of its truthfulness. The Church, has helped me when I had no where left to turn. The people are absolutely amazing, and are so loving. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. They have helped me overcome so many trials, and for that reason I want to help other people feel the love I have for the gospel.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love my family. My family is my life. I have come so far with them, and they have taught me so much. I love to enjoy time with my brothers and sisters. Countless times, they have taught me how to exercise my patience, and I have learned how to have a deeper love for them and others, especially when its been tough. I love where I grew up. In Utah, most of the people around me were LDS. In High School I had so many amazing friends who are Mormon who set an example for me to follow. I hope that I can set a similar example like the ones that my friends set for me. One of the goals that I always had and will forever have is I will always strive to keep my thoughts directed towards the savior. Im working hard everyday at keeping myself clean and worthy of the Priesthood, because the world has a lot of distractions, temptations and problems, that can distract me! I am grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission. I know it may be hard, but I know through Jesus Christ anything is possible. I love this gospel and am excited to go out and share it with all of Gods children!
