Hi I'm Jacelyn Dorman

I grew up in Nevada and Idaho. I was raised in a family of ten kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old, and the third oldest child of ten children in my family. I love my family more than anything in the world. I sing and play both piano and guitar, and I think music is a gift from God. I absolutely love learning, and I've been a college student for a year now. I am majoring in genetics, and I work in a research lab. I live in Idaho (I've worked on a potato farm, believe it or not), but I am currently serving a mission for our church in the Philippines, teaching the Gospel to others in the Cebuano language. It's the best decision I have ever made!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because my parents were both members. I was baptized when I was eight years old, and I have to admit I didn't really understand the gravity of what I was doing at that age. Since then, I have learned for myself that this church is true. I could go on and on about all of the reasons I know that this church teaches true doctrine, but the easiest one to explain is simply the happiness that living the doctrines brings to my life. I know that when I live as Christ teaches, I am at peace. Life may not be all sunshine and rainbows, but with Christ I can sing through the storm. I know that this church is true, and because of that I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned earlier, I am serving a mission for my church. I not only teach people about what our church believes, but I get to do service for them every day. I don't get paid to leave my life behind for a year and a half to preach about Christ, but I do it because I know what happiness this Gospel has brought in my life, and I want to share it with others. Before my mission, I had the opportunity to plan and organize youth activities for many years, teach Gospel lessons on Sundays, play hymns on the piano for our church meetings, and also play the piano for primary children as they learned songs about Christ. I attend our church meetings every week and try to learn to live as Christ did. I am nowhere near a perfect saint, but I have faith that as I do my best to improve I can be saved through God's grace.
