Hi I'm McKell

I grew up in Utah, I'm a singer and love to fill my life with music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving a mission in Scotland/Ireland. I love this gospel, it has blessed my life, and I love sharing it with others. I grew up in Provo, Utah and moved to Orem when I was 16. I'm an only child. I attended Southern Utah University for a little while and then transferred to Brigham Young University-Hawaii. I graduated from BYU-H with my Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences in 2014 and took the following year to prepare for my mission. After my mission, I plan to go back to Hawaii to finish a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance. I'm so grateful for the talents that Heavenly Father has blessed me with. Music is my emotional release and along with the gospel, has carried me through some very difficult times. I love performing and sharing my talents. I especially love singing about Christ, to help others feel His love and His Spirit. I love taking on new adventures and experiencing new things. I'm excited to see what lies ahead for me because I know that if I follow Christ and keep His commandments, I will be blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, yet that's not the reason I'm a Mormon. I made the decision myself of whether or not to remain a Mormon. I went through struggles and had to make a choice. I chose what made me the happiest. Half my family are members, and half are not, so nobody would have judged me if I decided to leave the church. As I grew up, both my parents struggled with substance abuse and serious addictions. As a result of this, my father decided to leave this earth when I was 16. Through all the struggles and the heartbreak my family experienced, this gospel and the love of my Savior is the only thing that has remained constant. It is the only thing that provided me with comfort and the strength to pick myself up and become a better person. There is no way that I would be as successful and happy as I am without it. Bottom line, I'm so happy. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to befriend others and let them know Christ through me. I try to live my life as an example of faithfulness and always share my testimony when appropriate. I study from the scriptures and apply its teachings to my life. I listen to our modern day prophets and apostles, I read and re-read the words they speak. I read many books written by LDS authors to look at some different perspectives and better understand the gospel. I've recently started praying for opportunities to be more charitable and serve people. I'm finding that the more I give of myself, the more joy I feel from helping others. I'm grateful for my faith, because as I live it everyday, I am constantly blessed by my Father in Heaven.
