Hi I'm Kori Odum

I was raised in good ol' South Georgia. I love to hunt, fish, ride horses, and be with my family. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I just recently graduated from college with a bachelor's degree, and it was time to decide what to do with my life. I started thinking about what I loved most and the first thing that popped into my mind was the gospel of Jesus Christ. So I decided that what I would love to do more than anything would be to serve a mission! I am a little older than the majority of missionaries since I have already been through college, but I think the life experiences I have had have prepared me to teach people in ways I couldn't have if I had served right after high school. Over the course of the last eight months, I have prepared diligently to be ready to serve a mission and bring other to Christ. I am a mormon, I know it, I live it, I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

When you are raised as Mormon, you can definitely take it for granted. I always loved the church and the spirit I felt when I obeyed the teachings of Jesus Christ. But as I got further along in college, the things I was surrounded by would start to drive the spirit away. Sadly, I lost my testimony for a few years, and those were the hardest and saddest years of my life. Tired of the loneliness and guilt that I felt, I decided to start surrounding myself with good and uplifting things. A little while later, I fully re-gained my testimony and have never been happier! Even though I have been through tough times that were caused by the choices that I made, I do not regret it. Now I can remember that sad period and so by comparison can fully appreciate the happiness and fulfillment that I have now that I live my life as Jesus Christ would have me live it.

How I live my faith

Be called as a teacher in Sunday School has helped me better prepare to teach others about the Gospel. You truly gain a testimony of teaching by the Spirit. I love teaching and also being taught, which is what a few members do every month to ward members they are assigned to. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we have a few members of our ward (home church) come out once a month to share uplifting messages with us in our home. I absolutely love when they visit, the spirit is so strong and you are able to connect with members of your ward in a way that you couldn't do from just seeing them at church.
