Hi I'm Mary Excell

I am a Mom and Grandma! I love reading, cooking good food with my family, and being outdoors. I like to travel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Southern Utah in a family of 6 kids! I am the oldest. Growing up we had a lot of freedom to play outside, ride bikes and go swimming. When I was 8 years old I wanted to be baptized. My dad baptized me. My baptism day was special to me and I felt good inside and wanted to make right choices. I always felt close to my grandma growing up. I was her oldest granddaughter, so I felt I held a special place in her heart. She was a good cook, housekeeper and a teacher. Because of those influences in my young life, I love the outdoors. I like to garden and plant flowers. My husband and I grow a big garden every year. Our favorite thing to grow is HOME GROWN TOMATOES! I also love to cook with my family. My boys all like to cook, so when we can cook together it is always fun for me. My daughter and I love to share recipes and discuss food! We love to try new things, she is good cook as well. I love to read books about young girls growing up and becoming smart women. I love a good mystery and when I have time I am known to watch a chick flick or two. I never pass up chocolate when I can help it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want an eternal family. I know that our Heavenly Father's plan includes families living together in heaven, because of this, I know I will see my grandma someday. I also know that I can be with my husband, children and grandchildren in the life to come. I am a Mormon because it brings me peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being friendly to others. I believe that even a friendly smile can cheer someone up and is a way for me to serve others. Part of my service in my church is visiting other sisters in our area on a monthly basis. I enjoy sitting with them and talking about our lives. We share a gospel thought each month and pray together. I love to feel the spirit in their homes as I visit with them.
