Hi I'm Thomas

I am from Utah. I'm a reader, a lover of the outdoors, and a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in the same city my whole life. The Church has always been extremely important to me, which is why I chose to serve a mission. I have been called to the Hong Kong mission, where I will be gone 2015-2017. I am extremely excited (and a little nervous) to serve. I have grown up loving to bike, read, shoot, fish, and sing. I am involved with my high school's chamber choir and other musical groups, as well as the advanced mathematics and chemistry courses. My plans for the future (besides getting married and starting a family of course) involve either becoming an actuary, chemical engineer, or a full-time seminary (religion) teacher. I love the Gospel and it has truly helped me make it so far in life!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the church; I have been blessed in that sense. But my true conversion, the moment I started going to church because of me and not for my parents, was when I was around 12 or 13 years old. There was no grand moment of earth-shaking inspiration. I just knew this to be true. When I was 16 years old I started participating less in the Church and focusing on other things in my life. I gradually became more selfish and less happy. There was nothing wrong with my life at that time, but there was nothing right either... One day I said a sincere prayer to my Father in Heaven, and I knew what I was missing. Ever since then I've been preparing to serve a mission! My life certainly hasn't been trial free, but during the hard times I have been able to lean on my Savior Jesus Christ and ultimately been able to remain at peace amongst the turmoil. This Gospel means everything to me, and I'm excited to be able to share it.

How I live my faith

I have been involved in many different service groups, including a weekly group to help those in my community who have special needs or handicaps. I have also been involved in a community service bell choir which not only sings, but also signs the songs so even people with hearing impairments can enjoy. I have served in church callings ranging from being in charge of a few hundred youth in my area (ages 12-18), to being on a council for my school's LDS religion classes.
