Hi I'm Jeff Sever

I grew up in Brigham City, Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been living in the Brigham City area for the past 7-8 years. I graduated from Box Elder High School this past year and have attended the outlet of Utah State University located in Brigham for one semester. I played varsity basketball for two years for the high school and have continued to root them on even after graduating. I have finished one semester at Utah State and am now currently preparing to serve a full time mission in Paraguay, Asuncion.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church, but for me, my conversion came much later in life. During my early years I would just go to church because my parents would tell me to. Then as I grew older my parents would tell me that I have the choice to stay home or go, but you know that if you stay you will make your parents disappointed and very sad that you made that choice. Then a little bit later on from that I started to actually think about the feelings I had as I attended church and the little coincidences that you would have during the week that look like they happen because someone is looking out for you and not just coincidentally. At this point, I started to gain an actual testimony for myself the gospel of Jesus Christ and was not living off the testimony of my parents and grandparents. Though both parents and grandparents have helped me have some of the most spiritual moments I have ever witnessed in my life. Like Joseph Smith though, I have learned for myself the truth. Your testimony must come this way if you want to have faith and know of a surety of that the gospel is true. God will testify to you that this church is true and that this gospel is the way back to him and life eternal.

How I live my faith

Attending church weekly has become a mandatory process for myself. My faith in and of this church has continually kept on growing over the time that I have been a member. As I continue to prepare for my mission, my testimony and relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, has grown exponentially. This church provides limitless opportunities to create friendships with all types of people. One of the only callings that I have because of my shortened time left here before I leave is hometeaching. Even if you are very outgoing, just going to church is not going to let you have the opportunity to have a close spiritual friendship with certain families. We call it hometeaching but I think that it is more of an opportunity for the teachers to feel the special spirit in the homes of members in the ward. The families that you teach become very special friends.
