Hi I'm Ashlie

I grew up in Utah. I have a Bachelor's in Music, am currently serving a mission in the Canada Halifax mission and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I finished up school at Snow College in Utah with a Bachelor of Music Business in May 2015. I specialized in piano performance, mainly accompanying. I also play the violin and love to sing. I love to be outside in nature going hiking, camping, out to the lakes and just enjoying the beauty of it. I also love to read, cook/bake, and sew. I am serving a mission in the Canada Halifax mission and loving it! I have 11 siblings with halfs and steps in there, but I will claim them all. Family is so important to me and I am serving away from mine so others can be with their families forever. I also love to play softball and sports of any kind along with reading and cooking. I love life and the simple beauties all around us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. I know they are watching out for us and that Christ did atone for our sins and transgressions and felt the pains that we go through. I have felt their influence and guidance in my life along with that warm feeling they send when I am doing right. I know that this is what they would want me to be doing and this church teaches truths and brings peace that other aspects of the world can't bring. I love to know that my family can be together for eternity, and no matter what happens in our lives, as long as we stay true to the truths we know, the Lord will watch over and protect us. In the end it will all be worth it. The journey may not be easy, but it will be worth it.

How I live my faith

I have previously served in the Relief Society presidency in my YSA ward for a couple of years, and this past year I was called to be the ward historian. I went to activities and took pictures and whatever else the bishop needed. I also play the organ in Sacrament meetings and enjoy sharing that talent and bringing the spirit into our meetings. I help out the sisters I visit teach and make sure they are doing ok. Visiting teaching is a great calling to help the members of your ward. It creates friendships and fellowships with those people.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

A husband and wife can be together forever if they are sealed in the temple and then keep the covenants they have made. These covenants are made with each other and the Lord. As a couple you need to continually be striving to keep the commandments. Being sealed is the first step in having an eternal marriage. Staying true to each other and to the Lord will make it so the sealing will last for all eternity. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I believe that all things good that bring light is evidence that we have a God. Each time a child is born it is a miracle. Think of all the things that could go wrong... there are so many yet here we are today. The fact that the sun rises and brings light to all and that it helps in the growth of all things. The beautiful sunsets and clouds and that there is love in this world. I love this gospel and I love knowing that God is there and loves me and each and everyone of us. He loves us so much that he sent His Son to atone for our sins that we may return to Him. I know He is there because he brings joy that can't be found elsewhere. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

As it says in Alma 32:28-43, if we desire, study and are obedient we can increase our faith in Christ. A few ways I have done this are to read about him in the Book of Mormon and in the four gospels contained in the New Testament. Then after reading to pray to know that they are true and in the Lord's own way, He will let you know of the truth. Sharing your testimony of this will increase your faith also. All you have to do is put a little faith and then try following the commandments for your testimony to begin and continue growing. Show more Show less
