Hi I'm Janet

I grew up in Northern Utah but married after college and have lived in Virginia for the past 24 years. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I taught elementary school for 34 years mostly in Virginia. I taught first grade for most of my teaching years. I loved watching them learn to read and enjoyed watching them grow in confidence. I love being a grandmother and having our family all together when we can. I enjoy reading, sewing and piecing quilts. That is how I spend my retirement years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was baptized when I was eight years old. Even though I was active in church growing up, there was a time that I had to know the truthfulness of the gospel for myself. My true conversion came when I left home after college to teach school in Nevada. I was not around my family and knew I had to stand on my own two feet to be a good example of the gospel. I have been faithful throughout my life because of the examples set by others and because of my family. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. The scriptures are the word of God and the answers to any of my questions can be found in the scriptures. I am thankful that I can talk to my Father in Heaven in prayer. I know that he knows me by name and that he loves me. I know that he knows my trials and fears and joys and that he is always there to help me. We are blessed to have a living prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us. I know that my family will be together eternally if we will follow the commandments and the covenants that we have made. My family and my testimony are my strength.

How I live my faith

I spend time at church working with the women. We do service to help others in our community and at church. We have been preparing meals and hygiene kits for parents whose child is being treated at the local cancer center. We plan events with the other churches to bring us all together and plan how we can help our community. I play the piano and organ and have been playing at church on and off for many years.
