Hi I'm Edith

I'm a Mormon. I am a wife, mother of 5 adult children, 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. I am a retired teacher.

About Me

I married at age 15, and recently celebrated a 65th anniversary. I finished high school at age 35, when my youngest daughter started kindergarten, and began college at age 36, with my oldest daughter. I have since received two masters' degrees, one an MBA and the other in History. I became an elementary school teacher and retired in 1994. With my oldest daughter I began researching and indexing slave records found in the deed books of the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas area. Our books are in many libraries and state archives now. I also do family history research for my family and for friends.

Why I am a Mormon

With my husband, I visited many different churches. It was not until I was introduced to the Book of Mormon that I found the deep, abiding faith I had sought. I am grateful that Heavenly Father sent those missionaries to my door, and that I was ready to listen and learn. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that he has risen up Prophets to guide us through these last days.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings in my church, including visiting teaching, teaching in Primary, Seminary, serving in the Relief Society as a teacher, and in the presidency. I am not basically a shut-in due to the advancing years and disability, however my faith is still strong as it was the day the first missionaries brought the Gospel to me in 1958.
